POSITION REPORTS TO: Director of Entertainment
JOB DESCRIPTION: SRC Performers are hired to perform and cover roles in our custom shows and events throughout the year, including but not limited to escape rooms, murder mysteries, stunt shows, our live Vaudeville show, our colorful array of improvised streetmosphere characters, our mascots, as event staff during our Day Out With Thomas events, in our Halloween offering The Legacy of Sleepy Hollow, and our myriad of Christmas shows and events. Individuals must be skilled in acting, singing, and movement, with the ability and openness to learn fight choreography if needed. Some customer service experience is a plus. This is a non-supervisory role.
Essential Duties:
- Shows up for work on-time, warmed-up, and ready for the day ahead.
- Shows an ability to memorize lines of dialogue, lyrics, music, choreography, fight choreography, and more as provided by the Head of Entertainment.
- Receives training or a rehearsal period for each show or event and consistently maintain their individual performances, direction, choreography, and instruction as directed, designed, created, and set forth by the Head of Entertainment and any other external production team member involved in a show or event.
- Takes and implements all show direction and blocking as set forth by the Head of Entertainment.
- Attends all general rehearsals, technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, cover rehearsals, and brush-up rehearsals as scheduled, though they are all subject to change.
- Attends all wardrobe fittings as scheduled, though they may be subject to change.
- Learns multiple roles across various shows throughout the season, as well as cover roles internally as requested by the Head of Entertainment and be prepared to perform them at all times as scheduled or requested by the Head of Entertainment or if a situation should warrant it during a show day.
- Rehearses, learns, and implements multiple versions of Strasburg Rail Road shows that take place outdoors for use in inclement weather, or when needed for team member injury, illness, a cover situation, or another reason as deemed necessary by the Head of Entertainment.
- Delivers high caliber performances in Strasburg Rail Road's various shows and events, whether singing, acting, dancing, or other, and energetically and consistently approach each role, for the enjoyment of our guests.
- Demonstrates flexibility in this role is a must and entertainment team members should do so with a positive, can-do attitude, and a desire to give our railroad guests the best experience possible.
- Exercises responsibility and care with costumes, props and show garments, alerting management of any issues right away.
- Exercises good hygiene, wearing correct show and undergarments, using deodorant, and making sure washable costumes are always placed in the appropriate baskets for weekly cleaning or hung in the appropriate spot for dry cleaning, every three weeks.
- Exercises a customer service minded approach to each day, always putting our guests first.
- Complies with the schedule and requirements herein and set forth by the Head of Entertainment and the Strasburg Rail Road in its Employee Handbook.
- Receives and applies regular notes and feedback from the Head of Entertainment to individual and group performances. These notes should be applied at the next performance and should not have to be given more than once.
- Demonstrates an ability to work as a member of a team, both in the entertainment department and across the company, maintaining a positive environment for all, and always acting with extreme professionalism in the workplace.
- Demonstrates a high level of professionalism as required by the Strasburg Rail Road.
- Notifies management in a timely manner of any time off requests, illnesses, etc. and wait to receive approval in writing. If approval is not granted, you will not be allowed off.
- Maintains an ability to work uninterrupted, Thursday- Sunday, as scheduled, with no time off being granted during our Day Out With Thomas events and holiday seasons.
- Understands that this is a non-supervisory role and does not have the authority to make any changes to the workday in any way including elements of shows or events, schedules, costumes, or any other aspect.

- Presents a clean and professional outward appearance in adherence to the requirements in the Strasburg Rail Road's Employee Handbook, when not in an approved costumes or show garment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Part-time, varied shifts depending on operations and show or event schedules.
- Provided with personal counter space and a bin in the department's Green Room, along with private changing areas and a space for relaxation between rehearsals, work, or performances.
- Work weekends and evenings for scheduled shows and events.
- Work for extended periods of time.
- Consistently perform up to eight shows per day of varying lengths.
- Assist with physical show and event set-up and tear-down if needed.
