POSITION DESCRIPTION
 
POSITION TITLE: Food Runner/Table Busser
 
FLSA: Non-exempt
 
POSITION REPORTS TO: Food Services Manager
 
POSITION PURPOSE: To ensure the food on the pass gets to the proper table and Guest.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Running all food to Guests inside Café, curb side, and/or on the train.
• Able to bus, clean, and reset tables.
• Attend to the dining car and guarantee compliance of food handling and cleanliness standards.
• Resolve any issues or guest concerns.
• Engage in casual conversation with Guests/passengers.
• Advise Guests of additional opportunities at the Strasburg Rail Road and throughout the region, and answer any questions.
• Cooperate collaboratively with other Team Members and be supportive.
• Work consistently to provide Guests a world-class railroad and dining experience.
 
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS:
• Always presents a friendly and hospitable demeanour.
• Represents Strasburg Railroad with professionalism and kindness.
• Adheres to the Strasburg Railroad dress code, always presenting an appearance that is neat and clean,
• Pays attention to detail in areas of cleanliness, order accuracy, and adherence to policy and regulations.
• Takes ownership of the Guests’ experience.
• Works well with others.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Strong work ethic.
• Exemplary customer service skills.
• Desire to exceed Guest expectations.
• Ability to build relationships with colleagues and guests to ensure a positive work environment and experience.
• Basic knowledge of best practices in food service.
• Work experience as a server or wait staff member preferred.
• Ability to remain calm and work well under pressure.
• Working knowledge of basic POS operation and cash handling.
• High school diploma or GED.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS:
· Hours revolve primarily around an established train, event, and café schedules.
· Evening and weekend hours are expected, as well as work on the occasional holiday.
· Mostly indoor work.
· Required uniform including apron and anti-slip footwear.
· Exposure to hazardous situations and conditions that may produce cuts or minor burns.
· Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, such as when working near ovens, griddles, and friers or when retrieving food from freezers.
· Sometimes wear personal protective equipment such as gloves.
· Work physically near others.
· Work near contaminants and hazardous equipment.
· Sometimes work in a noisy and distracting environment.
· Occasional work onboard a moving train. Walking between cars is necessary.
· Duties require frequent standing and walking.
· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
