Position Title: Retail Sales Supervisor

Position Reports To: Retail Manager/Asst Retail Manager
Summary: The Retail Sales Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Strasburg Rail Road’s retail merchandise business by opening, closing, and supervising daily operation of the General Store, Toy Store, auxiliary retail locations. This is a part-time position with approximately 5-10 hours per week, mostly weekends.
Essential Duties
• Embrace the thematic vision for the Strasburg Rail Road shopping experience.
• Open and/or close retail shops, following all established procedures.
• Provide shift supervision of Retail Sales Associates.
• Aid in the training, scheduling, and supervision of Team Members to ensure sufficient staffing levels, maximum productivity, and exemplary Guest service.
• Assist with receiving of product and ensuring quality control.
• Oversee regular cycle counts and inventorying of product as directed.
• Ensure proper cash handling and safeguard company funds.
• Facilitate change orders and bank deposits as necessary.
• Operate and manage onsite or event-specific shop locations, including such tasks as cleaning, restocking, pricing, merchandising, running Point of Sale, bagging, and professionally engaging with Guests.

• Demonstrates consistency and accuracy in all aspects of cash handling, sales processing, and inventory control.

Qualifications

• Communicates professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrates sufficient computer competency, especially the ability to work with Point-of-Sale applications and basic data entry.
• Collaborates well with others.
• Previous retail sales and merchandising experience in both brick-and-mortar and online spaces is ideal.
Working Conditions
• Regular weekend and holiday work required.
• Daytime and early evening working hours.
• Frequent interaction with people, including Team Members and Guests.
• Work is primarily indoors including use of basic office equipment, though some duties require working outdoors and engaging with products and experiences offered by the company.
• Duties require regular handling of currency and monetary instruments, as well as frequent use of computers, telephones, Point of Sale terminals, and other technology.
• Frequent sitting at a desk and computer.
• Frequent walking, standing, lifting, and bending.
• Regular lifting of up to 50 lbs.
• Regular use of hand trucks and flatbed carts to move inventory.
• Possible use of a forklift (will train).
